Rep. John Lesch (DFL-St. Paul)
“Revenge porn” — when a person puts intimate photos on the Internet to “get back” at someone — is now a crime in Minnesota and victims are also allowed to sue perpetrators. Bill sponsor, Saint Paul Representative John Lesch says everyone has a camera phone and a lot more intimate photos are being taken. Lesch says statistics show “there were already more photographs taken between January and May in 2015 than there were throughout the entire 20th century.” Most “revenge porn” cases will be gross misdemeanors, but more serious offenses could be prosecuted as felonies.
