A company across the border in River Falls, Wisconsin is offering to give its employees microchip implants. Three Square Market says more than 50 employees are signed up for the voluntary program that starts next week. Vice President of International Development Tony Danna says the chip is “the size of a grain of rice and it gets implanted between your thumb and forefinger and it has the ability to work at any Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader or any Near Field Communication (NFC) terminals.” He says getting the implant feels like any other piercing. The chip allows employees to swipe into the office building and pay for food with the wave of a hand. Danna says he’s aware there’s been some concern about employee privacy. He says the chip is not meant to track employees and it only works at RFID readers:
Danna is among the employees getting his implant next Tuesday.
