(Detroit, MI)  —  Joe Ryan returned from the injury list but the Twins still fell short, losing 5-4 to the Tigers in Detroit.  Tigers outfielder Riley Greene’s two run homer in the bottom of the fifth extended Detroit’s lead to 5-2.  While the Twins did score a pari of runs on a Walker Jenkins double in the next inning they could never fully close the gap.  Ryan gave up three runs in four innings of work and struck out seven in his first appearance in a month.  He was out with a strained left glute muscle.  He suffered the loss and fell to 6-9 on the season.  The series continues tonight at Comerica Park in Detroit with a 5:40 P-M first pitch.
