Sauk Rapids Teen suffers severe electric shock, falls from bridge

June 16, 2016 By Tasha Redel

A teenager from Sauk Rapids is in critical condition after suffering a severe electrical shock and falling from a bridge. The Sartell Police Department says they were called to the old Sartell bridge over the Mississippi River on Sartell Street at about 9:20 p.m. last (Wednesday) night.

Dispatch had been giving CPR instructions to another teen, until officers arrived. After a short time, the victim regained a pulse and was breathing with difficulty, but not conscious. He was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, and then flown to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Daniel Fleigel of Sauk Rapids.

Five other juveniles who were on the bridge with him say he climbed to the top of the old bridge and was walking across when he grabbed an electrical wire and then fell about 30 feet.
