Schools will probably get some state money to beef up security — because even though the 25-million-dollar measure is in a budget bill Governor Mark Dayton says he’ll veto, it’s also in a bonding bill that insiders say the governor will likely sign. Dayton wanted a stand-alone bill, but Republicans were put off when he vetoed legislation on a different issue. House Speaker Kurt Daudt says, “When we think the governor wants a stand-alone bill, he vetoes it and says I can’t sign it because it’s not part of a bigger bill. So, you just sometimes can’t win with this governor.” Dayton fires back Republicans put the measure in the bill “because they know I’m not gonna sign that, and so they can go around saying, well, Dayton vetoed school safety. It really is appalling.”
