The state legislative auditor is recommending Minnesota modernize its voter registration database and help election officials identify people who are ineligible to vote. Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon says “the reason that’s important is the number one threat to our election integrity in this country and in this state, is the threat of a cyber attack from someone seeking to undermine our Democracy.” Simon says he’s committed to working closely with the legislature and local elections officials to strengthen and secure Minnesota’s voter registration systems. He estimates the cost for upgrades at about $1.4 million over four years.
