“Politics is about the improvement of people’s lives. The American people know that to be true and they fill me with hope for our future. Thank you madame president.” And with those words, U-S Senator Al Franken wrapped up his final speech on the Senate floor today by invoking the message of his mentor, Paul Wellstone. Franken’s speech today was sharply critical of the Trump administration and Republicans for their policies on a variety of issues, including the just-passed tax bill, healthcare, climate change and voter rights.
Franken says he plans to resign on January 2nd.
