Sen Franken on Trump cabinet committee hearings set to start today (AUDIO)

January 10, 2017 By Scott Peterson

Senator Al Franken

Hearings for several of President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees begin this morning.

U-S Senator Al Franken is on the Judiciary Committee and is set for the day’s first hearing for Trump’s Attorney General nominee, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions. Franken says he knows Sessions very well and likes him, but adds that he and Sessions “hardly ever agree on anything.” Specifically, Franken says he has questions for Sessions about civil liberties and racial equality.

In general, Franken says he’s keeping an open mind on Trump’s selections for leadership posts. Franken is also a member of the Health, Education and Labor and Energy Committees, which all hold their hearings later this week.
