Senator Al Franken
A bill passed in the U.S. Senate would expand how telemedicine technology is used in rural communities. Senator Al Franken says patients in rural areas often lack adequate access to specialty care doctors. He says telemedicine technology can help fill those gaps and “allow local practitioners from smaller towns to access through hubs and through telemedicine, specialists and experts in urban communities.” The telemedicine technology links primary care clinics with health specialists via video conference in order to better manage patient care.
