Senator Amy Klobuchar is calling for a hearing after big pricing increases for EpiPens.
She says prices went from “$100 for a pack of 2 in 2009 to somewhere between$500 and $600 this year.” Klobuchar, whose daughter uses an EpiPen, is asking the Senate Judiciary Committee to investigate the price increases, which she says are “clearly related” to the monopoly power that Mylan Pharmaceutical has recently gained after competitors’ products failed to get approval or were recalled.
She’s also calling on the Federal Trade Commission to investigate.
