Senator Amy Klobuchar
U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar is calling on the U-S Justice Department to investigate Mylan Pharmaceutical for its pricing practices.
Klobuchar says in addition to price increases up to 500-percent on EpiPen packs since 2009, “[Mylan] actually charged the government too much money and they classified the drug as a generic drug, which means that they then get in a better situation with rebates and have more money and it’s not fair.”
Klobuchar says this “misclassification” will cost Minnesota more than four million dollars this year alone.
In testimony before a House Committee last week, Mylan’s CEO said “price and access exist in a balance, and we believe we have struck that balance.”
