Sen Smith intends to vote to convict former Pres Trump on article of impeachment (AUDIO)

January 22, 2021 By Scott Peterson

Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says the House article of impeachment against former President Trump will be sent to the Senate on Monday. Schumer said there will be a full and fair impeachment trial in the Senate but did not say when it will start. U-S Senator Tina Smith says it’s important to “hold this president and those that enabled this dangerous behavior accountable.” Smith says she intends to vote to convict the former President and says Trump “incited an attack on our Capitol, it was an attempt to overthrow our elections through violence.” The impeachment article, which passed in the House with bipartisan support, accuses the now-former President of inciting the violent and deadly attack on the Capitol on January 6th. Here’s more with Senator Smith.
