Senate Democrats unveil their bonding plan this morning for state public works projects. Governor Mark Dayton says he hopes it’s in the neighborhood of what he proposed, $1.4 billion. But the governor’s bigger problem is that Republicans in the House have proposed a lot smaller bonding bill — $600 million. And top Republicans say they want a “substantial” amount of that to go to roads and bridges, but haven’t give a dollar figure. Dayton is asking Republicans to bring their bill forward so the parties have something specific to talk about. House Speaker Kurt Daudt responds, let’s do the rest of the budget first and then we can talk about the state borrowing more money.
