A state Senate panel begins a three-day tour of southwestern Minnesota tomorrow (Tues), hearing pitches from projects competing for state bonding dollars. Among the most prominent, a 60-plus-million-dollar request for the second phase of upgrades at the state Security Hospital in Saint Peter, where some staffers say they worry every day about being injured on the job. The panel also gets an update on planned improvements to Highway 14, hears a request for money to finish the Lewis and Clark Regional Water System, and tours a now-empty, privately-built correctional facility in Appleton that some want the state to lease and operate.
