As some absentee voters in Minnesota scramble at the last minute, Democratic Senator Tina Smith says there’s “no question” their ballots should be counted, if they’re postmarked by Election Day. Smith says, “Those have been the rules that we have run this election by, until just a few days ago when a federal court changed the rules in the middle of the election, throwing a lot of confusion out there.”
But Republican challenger Jason Lewis says he’s uncomfortable with counting ballots received after Election Day. “The idea that you say, well, we can receive a ballot after Election Day without inviting mischief, is something that I think has to be taken into consideration.”
