Senator Tina Smith and Governor Tim Walz visit a dairy farm in Altura in southeast Minnesota this morning (9am) to survey losses from the recent blizzard. The governor says dairy farmers have been hit by low prices, trade issues, and now record-breaking snowfall. “The architecture of these dairy barns, more than a few collapsed, killed animals. We’re gonna go down and survey that damage,” Walz says.
The blizzard also made roads impassable, forcing producers to dump thousands of pounds of milk because they couldn’t get it to market.
