It may be premature to get those shovels out, but snow is in the forecast. Meteorologist Michelle Margraf says it’s expected Thursday night into Friday “and as the storm moves through, temperatures are going to be dropping into the lower to mid 30s, so we’re going to see a changeover from a rain to a rain-snow mix and then potentially a period of just snow occurring across Minnesota.” Margraf says when a lot of people think about snow in October in Minnesota, they “think of the Halloween blizzard of 1991, but getting that kind of snow is really rare in October, in fact in the past 20 years we’ve only had three years where we’ve had measurable snow in October.” Margraf predicts we could see up to four inches in parts of western Minnesota and about an inch in the Twin Cities metro area.
