Governor Mark Dayton says he’ll call a special election for Monday, February 12th for the legislative seats formerly held by Representative Tony Cornish and Senator Dan Schoen, who are both stepping down after sexual harassment allegations. A special primary election will be Monday, January 29th. The governor says, “It’s not desirable to have the elections, the primary and the general, on a Monday, but under state law and given the other circumstances we really didn’t have any other choice.” The conflicts: a school board special election in Cornish’s district on February 13th, and precinct caucuses the prior Tuesday.
