Minnesota’s special deer hunting season for youth ages 10 to 15 begins Thursday and runs through Sunday. The D-N-R’s Mike Kurre says it’s the perfect time to mentor a kid. He says, “Great time of year because it’s a little bit warmer. It’s a time where a parent or a guardian or a friend can get ’em out there and really spend time with ’em. And that’s their informative and their educational years, they’re getting build right during that time period.” The adult mentor does not need a deer hunting license. Youth hunt licenses are a dollar for ages 10 through 12; six dollars for 13, 14 and 15-year-olds. Youth deer hunt zones generally speaking are in the very northwest corner of the state, the whole metro area and the southeast corner of Minnesota.
