Snowplow drivers working for Saint Louis County in northeastern Minnesota, one minute after their current contract expired at midnight, filed their notice of intent to strike but did not give a strike date. Because of the holiday, a ten-day cooling-off period won’t begin until Thursday, meaning January 13th is the earliest that snowplow drivers could strike. The Duluth News Tribune reports that among the issues are seniority, wages, health care premiums and benefit accrual.
