A Starbuck man has been charged with interference with a dead body. 21-year-old Nickolas McArdell is accused of leaving the body of 21-year-old Laura Schwendemann in a cornfield. He told investigators that he panicked after Schwendemann stopped breathing as the two were driving around Douglas County, smoking marijuana and injecting meth. A medical examiner did confirm that Schwendemann had methamphetamine and THC in her system. Her disappearance led to several large-scale searches. Schwendemann was a student at the University of Minnesota-Morris.
