The state Agriculture Department has a booth at this year’s Farmfest where farmers can get information on programs to help them recover from spring and early summer flooding. The department’s Matt McDevitt says one option is low-interest loans “to help the farmers recover from different phases of the disaster. We work in conjunction with the local bank.”
McDevitt says Farm Advocates can also provide one-on-one assistance on ag lending practices, mediation, government programs and crisis counseling. “Hopefully some of our things can help people out and make a tough situation a little less so, if possible.” he says.
