Governor Dayton was joined by lawmakers, essay contest winners and other dignitaries as he cut the ribbon today to kick off the State Capitol’s Grand re-opening celebration. After nearly four years of construction, the $310 million dollar project is finished and getting a three-day party in its honor. In addition to tours of the building, there will be a Prince dance party, panel discussions of the Capitol’s history, and the release of a new Minnesota Historical Society book on the capitol restoration.
