Republicans at their state convention in Duluth endorsed state Senator Karin Housley on the first ballot as their candidate for U-S Senate. She’s challenging Democrat Tina Smith, whom Governor Mark Dayton appointed after Al Franken resigned from the Senate. Housley says, “This do-nothing mentality is nothing new for Tina Smith…. She did nothing as Governor Dayton’s lieutenant governor. The only time Tina Smith actually did anything was when she was a high-powered lobbyist for Planned Parenthood.”
Minnesota D-F-L Party Chairman Ken Martin says Housley “continuously turns her back on Minnesotans to side with special interests.” Martin says Housley “voted against holding opioid manufacturers responsible for the crisis they helped create, stalled legislation to broaden the definition of sexual harassment and loaded her elder care bill with industry interests.”
