State officials were in Cass County Tuesday and they’ll be in Chippewa County, Yellow Medicine County and at the Upper Sioux Community tomorrow, assessing damage from storms in mid-July through early August. Kevin Reed, deputy director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, says they’re estimating costs for public infrastructure to be repaired or replaced — roads, culverts, ditches and other similar structures owned by municipalities or the county.
