Minnesota Health Department officials will only say they’re “evaluating potential implications” for the state’s medical cannabis program, after U-S Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinded an Obama-era policy that made it easier for states to legalize marijuana. Instead of a more lenient policy, federal prosecutors where marijuana is legal will now decide how aggressively to enforce existing federal laws which prohibit its use. State officials say they’re committed to doing all they can to ensure continued well-being of those using cannabis for medical purposes under the state program. They says medical cannabis has reduced pain and suffering of thousands of Minnesota in cases where other treatments are not effective.
