Amid mounting public pressure, Minnesota Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says they plan to release today or tomorrow the names of nursing homes and other congregate care facilities with ten or more beds which have COVID cases. Malcolm says posting the names of facilities that are above that size would allow officials to still protect the privacy of individual residents and staff.
Republicans, including state Senator Karin Housley from St. Marys Point, have been pushing the Walz administration to make that data public, “So people in Minnesota can know and have this information because the more information we have, the more comfortable we are — the less we have, the more anxiety is caused.”
At last report, of Minnesota’s 18 deaths from COVID-19, 11 were residents of congregate care facilities.
