State park campsites still available over Memorial Day weekend

May 18, 2016 By Tasha Redel

State Park3

It’s not too late to reserve a campsite at a Minnesota state park over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The DNR’s Pat Arndt reminds you that you do however,  have to make a reservation ahead of time.  She says state parks  are no  longer offering first-come-first-served campsites.

Arndt says “Sometimes the Wednesday or Thursday before a big holiday weekend people would go in and get one of those first-come-first-served sites and then have it for the weekend. And those aren’t going to be available any longer”.

Arndt says if your favorite park is full, be sure to check back often, there may be an opening due to a cancellation.    She says finding a park is easy.
