An explosives-sniffing dog is now patrolling the Minnesota Capitol Complex as the State Patrol’s only K-9 with that capability. Matka is a Hungarian Vizsla, and Trooper Kaj Meinhardt says she’ll be great at the Capitol because she loves people and the environment there. Meinhardt says he and Matka have only been on day shift at the Capitol for about a week but “she’s been a big hit.” Matka and Trooper Meinhardt will respond to suspicious packages and assist in any unexpected threats at the State Capitol.
