(Thief River Falls, MN) — Authorities say a woman rolled her car on a little-traveled road near Thief River Falls on Valentine’s Day, then hung upside-down, suspended by her seatbelt for nearly two hours in sub-zero temperatures, before regaining consciousness long enough to text her husband for help. Jolene Mammen’s only injury was a broken wrist. Lieutenant Tiffani Nielson says Mammen likely survived because she had a cell phone and was wearing a winter coat. She urges drivers to be ready for the unexpected.
