The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has approved the final permit for Enbridge Energy’s Line 3 pipeline replacement across northern Minnesota. Republicans at the Minnesota Legislature applaud the move. Minnesota Chamber of Commerce President Doug Loon calls it “nothing short of a triumph for what we’ve been fighting for all along – a predictable, fair and thorough regulatory process in the state of Minnesota.” Winona LaDuke with Honor the Earth says it’s unfortunate the state is issuing permits for an unnecessary tar-sands pipeline even though a court appeal is still under way. Opponents warn the project will be bad for the environment and hurt Native communities along the route.
