A decision is expected by week’s end on Canada-based Enbridge’s proposal to upgrade its “Line 3” pipeline through northern Minnesota. Last week the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission took testimony on the controversial project from both sides and continues discussions today in Saint Paul prior to a final decision. Some opponents have warned, if regulators give the go-ahead for the Line 3 upgrade, there could be violence like at Standing Rock, North Dakota. Governor Mark Dayton met privately with several tribal leaders and with a group of county sheriffs last week, and indicates he’ll continue talking this week with backers and opponents of the proposed pipeline — but administration officials are giving few details.
