Governor Mark Dayton is setting up a task force to study opportunities that self-driving vehicles could bring to Minnesota, and there’s an autonomous vehicle in front of the State Capitol today to pique people’s curiosity. Public Safety Commissioner Mona Dohman says, “The mirror on your car says that ‘Objects are Closer than they Appear.’ I think that the same can be said about automated and connected vehicles.” MN-DOT Commissioner Charles Zelle says Minnesota will first use autonomous vehicles in pilot projects for testing. He predicts within five years they could be in use for shuttle buses and on MN-PASS lanes.
