Dr. Beth Thompson–State Veterinarian and Board of Animal Health Executive Director–today announced she is resigning from her position effective May 8th. Thompson has accepted the state veterinarian position in her home state of South Dakota. Thompson says she accepted the opportunity to be closer to family and friends. Thompson says that even though she is departing amid an avian flu outbreak, the Board of Animal Health’s “response is strong, and I leave this agency in very capable hands.” Current Assistant Director, Dr. Linda Glaser will begin serving as Interim State Veterinarian on May 9th.
