State assessors were in Benton and Morrison counties Monday, they’re in Mille Lacs County today and in Kanabec County tomorrow, tabulating public infrastructure damage from the July 11th storms and flooding. Damage is not great enough for federal assistance, but the state has its own fund which reimburses cities, counties, townships and tribal governments for damage to public infrastructure and emergency response costs. Earlier Governor Mark Dayton approved state disaster assistance for Blue Earth and Nicollet counties to repair flood damage from storms in June. The state pays 75 percent of the costs and local governments must pick up the rest.
