Officials estimate June 11th storms did more than a quarter million dollars damage to the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City High School. Superintendent Sherri Broderius says the most serious damage is over the gym, where wind caught the corners of the roof on two different levels. She says it “pretty much snagged off the trim around the side, which pulled away some 2-by-12s and ripped the membrane that keeps the water out of the building, ripped that away from the roof.” Broderius says a lot of windows were broken from roof rock blown by 70-mile-per-hour winds.
In addition to the building itself, sports facilities on the high school grounds also took a hit from the storm. Broderius says, “We have some significant damage to outbuildings, track equipment, our track — again. Seems like we just got done taking care of that track from the storm of eight years ago.”
