Twin Cities area nurses who have been off the job since Labor Day are set to return — after ratifying a new contract late Thursday with Allina Health.
Negotiating team nurse Angela Becchetti says it’s time to move forward and “the nurses have spoken, we accepted this offer and you know this is not what the nurses deserve, but it’s a giant leap from where we were not just in February and June. it’s a key component for them–we want to improve patient care and we want to take care of everyone.”
Health benefits, staffing and safety were among the key sticking points in the negotiations. More than four-thousand nurses that voted to strike at Abbott Northwestern, United, Mercy, Unity and Phillips Eye Institute will be back at work by Sunday.
