Eagle lovers from across Minnesota packed the State Capitol Rotunda Wednesday afternoon to support the National Eagle Center’s request for 10 million dollars in state bonding money. Executive Director Rolf Thompson says they need to expand the visitor center in Wabasha — and a resurgence in the eagle population played a big part in fueling public interest. He says, “Everybody now sees eagles, practically throughout the country. Everyone has an eagle story.”
Thompson says they also need space for a valuable donated collection of over 20 thousand items depicting eagles throughout American culture and history.
