Investigators say a Preston man stole a police S-U-V even though he’d been tasered, then led officers on a high-speed chase Thursday through Saint Clair, Pemberton and near Waldorf before the pursuit was ended by stop-sticks. Mankato Public Safety Director Todd Miller says 38-year-old Danny Zuehlke posed a threat to other drivers, pedestrians and officers, plus had stolen a police vehicle. Miller says, “In our squads we carry a shotgun and a rifle, and they are in squad locks. You have to figure out a combination in order to get those unlocked, so they are secure, but if you have enough time, there’s a potential to figure that out.”
Authorities were trying to arrest the suspect on a criminal sexual conduct warrant from Fillmore County. He’s now accused of additional offenses because of the chase.
