State employee union members have a message this afternoon for last-minute tax filers at post offices in Brainerd, Duluth, Saint Cloud and Minneapolis — that Republicans’ tax cut proposals will cost them money. AFSCME Council Five head Eliot Seide warns, “President Trump and Minnesota Republicans want you to pay for tax breaks for profitable corporations and the wealthiest earners. It’s simply wrong to put their wealth ahead of our health and our children’s education.” Republicans in the Minnesota House and Senate respond their proposed tax cuts would benefit middle-class and lower-income Minnesotans. But Democrats warn Republicans would reduce funding for many programs that benefit those same people.
