Over three thousand people are expected to attend Jacob Wetterling’s community memorial today. It marks the end of the almost three-decade search for the boy from St. Joseph who was snatched off his bicycle in October 1989 and vanished without a trace. MNN’s Tasha Redel visited with a Paynesville-native Kris Bertelsen who believes he too was a victim of Jacob’s abductor Danny Heinrich:
Over the Labor Day holiday weekend news broke that Jacob Wetterling’s remains were found in a shallow grave outside of Paynesville. A few days later in federal court in Minneapolis, 53-year-old Danny Heinrich of Annandale detailed the October 22nd, 1989 abduction, sexual assault and murder of Wetterling.
