At least three candidates are already in the race for the Minnesota House seat held by Vernon Center Republican Tony Cornish, who’s resigning amid allegations of sex harassment. One candidate is Lake Crystal small business owner and farmer Jeremy Munson who says, “We need free market solutions. We need price transparency to bring down the actual underlying health care costs, and we need people in Saint Paul that are supporting our farmers.”
Lake Crystal Mayor, Republican Brad Ahrenstorff (AIR-en-storf) is also running for the Cornish seat, saying the legislature should rein in the state budget and concentrate more on rural issues. And Lake Crystal social worker Melissa Wagner, a Democrat, is also in the race, saying she can bring a fresh voice to the legislature.
Governor Mark Dayton has not yet set a date for a special session, but says it should be before the legislature reconvenes on February 20th.
