More Minnesotans are getting involved as rescues and evacuations continue along the Gulf Coast. An example, the Dilworth Police Department is collecting relief supplies for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Police Chief Ty Sharpe says a truck has been set up in the Dilworth Walmart Parking lot. Items being accepted include; bottled water, diapers, groceries and pet food are among the items being accepted.
A shooting in a busy area near downtown Minneapolis left a man dead and police looking for suspects. The homicide happened behind a bar in the “Seven Corners” area near the West Bank of the U of M. Classes on campus start next week.
A 17-year old has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of his friend last weekend. Cortez Williams of Minneapolis turned himself in after the shooting in the back seat of a car in the suburb of Crystal. Williams told police he and 18-year old Haeveon Wesley were exchanging guns while drunk when Wesley was shot in the chest. He later died in the hospital.
A swim in Lake Superior around Duluth is not advised today. Forecasters say dangerous rip currents and high waves will be a major factor all day at Park Point Beach.
