Player Notes
•Jaden McDaniels led the way for the Timberwolves in Oklahoma City tonight, finishing with a team-high 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting and a perfect 9-of-9 from the free throw line, his third 25+ point game of the season (seventh career). McDaniels added 10 rebounds on the night, marking his seventh double-double of his career (all coming this season) and his second 25+ point/10+ rebound game of his career (all coming this season).
•Anthony Edwards finished with 17 points, a game-high 13 rebounds and a team-best eight assists, his second straight double-double and fifth of the season (25th career). Tonight marks just the third time in Edwards’ career that he’s recorded consecutive double-doubles. His career-high for consecutive double-doubles is three from Dec. 16-19, 2022.
•At the end of the third quarter of tonight’s game, Edwards had 15 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. He became the first Timberwolves player since Karl-Anthony Towns (22 points, 11 boards and nine assists) on Feb. 8, 2020 to reach those marks through the first three quarters of a game.
•In 35:06 minutes of action off the bench, Nickeil Alexander-Walker ended tonight’s game with 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 2-of-4 from deep and five rebounds. Tonight marked Alexander-Walker’s third 20+ point game of the season (21st career).
•Terrence Shannon Jr. shined in 28:58 minutes of action off the bench, finishing with a season-high 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting and a season-best 10 rebounds. Shannon Jr. becomes the first Minnesota rookie and seventh Wolves rookie overall with 17+ points and 10+ rebounds off the bench since Nemanja Bjelica (17 points and 11 rebounds) did so on Nov. 7, 2015.
•With Edwards, McDaniels, Reid and Shannon Jr. all finishing with 15+ points and 10+ rebounds tonight against the Thunder, Minnesota becomes only the fourth team in draft lottery era (since 1985-86) to have four or more players with 15+ points and 10+ rebounds in the same game.
Team Notes
•Down by as many as 25 points (57-82, 7:08 left in the third quarter) tonight, the Timberwolves stormed back to force overtime and eventually defeat the Thunder. Tonight’s comeback tied the largest comeback in Timberwolves history (16-41, 10:14 left in the second quarter vs. Charlotte on March 1, 1996; 105-101 win).
•Down 16 with 3:41 left in the fourth quarter, Minnesota becomes the second team in the NBA since 2002-03 to win a game down 16 or more points with 3:45 or less in a game (Sacramento at Minnesota on Jan. 27, 2020).
