The first of nine Somali-Minnesota men convicted for trying to join terrorist groups has been sentenced to time already served, 20 years of supervised release and up to a year’s placement in a halfway house.
20-year-old Abdullahi Yusuf had pleaded guilty and testified against three of his co-defendants. Abdirizak Warsame and Zacharia Abdurahman are also set to be sentenced today.
The other six men who admitted providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization will be sentenced on Tuesday and Wednesday.
