As the U-S House continues impeachment hearings, a top Minnesota analyst notes a lot would have to change for Democrats to succeed in removing President Trump from office. Carleton College Professor Steven Schier says in national polls, support for impeaching and then convicting the president is usually a little short of 50 percent — however, “If you look at both the national and the recent Minnesota poll, you see that over 80 percent of Republicans oppose impeaching and convicting President Trump.” Schier contends that’s a key number because Republicans control the U-S Senate.
