There are reports former Governor Tim Pawlenty will meet with his inner circle later this month to discuss a possible run for governor. Carleton College Professor Steven Schier says Pawlenty is waiting to see if there’s strong backing for someone else at the upcoming precinct caucuses. He points out the last G-O-P candidate to win statewide office was Pawlenty, back in 2006. Schier says, “The real question is whether any of these alternatives to Pawlenty have the ability to solve that long-standing problem.”
As for the current D-F-L field for governor, Schier calls it “wide open and conflictual.”
