A top political analyst predicts the state Democratic Party will lose its lawsuit that seeks to take Donald Trump’s name off the ballot in Minnesota. Hamline University Professor David Schultz says although Democrats probably have state law in their favor in arguing that Republicans didn’t follow proper procedure to put Trump’s name on the ballot, that law may be unconstitutional. Schultz says there is “an enormous body of… case law out there that says that political parties have broad First Amendment rights regarding governance of their internal affairs.” D-F-L Party leaders have asked the Minnesota Supreme Court to review the case.
