Hamline University analyst David Schultz says Senator Amy Klobuchar in last night’s debate did *not* do what’s needed to energize her campaign for president. Schultz says Klobuchar’s statements were too tentative to attract liberal Democrats, and likely didn’t show enough conviction to gain support from moderates either. “She needed to carve a distinct space for herself to come out of this and say, alright, on this first night I am now the centrist candidate of choice or the centrist alternative,” says Schultz. “She didn’t do that.”
Schultz predicts it will be more difficult for Klobuchar to continue her campaign because funding will start going to other candidates who did better in the debate. He says he’s not sure what options Klobuchar has to turn things around for her campaign.
