Those pushing for an increase in Minnesota’s gasoline tax were again *not* successful during the just-ended legislative session, and one chief advocate, Democratic Representative Frank Hornstein from Minneapolis says, “I think a comprehensive approach that we’re taking at this point, yes, may require electoral change.” He’s talking about the 2020 election, when Hornstein says the message will be, “We cannot continue to just limp along with a second-rate transportation system in this state.”
Democrats will try to hold their majority in the Minnesota House plus take control of the state Senate. It will likely be a hard-fought battle because President Trump will likely be running for re-election.
